Outer Diameter (OD) Threading Tool

A new, quick, efficient, and inexpensive way to thread an outer diameter. Simply put the die into the tool, and begin machining.

Here’s how it works: As the OD of the shaft is threaded, it travels up into the tool. Cut-outs on the 4 sides of the tool allow for coolant flow and chip extraction. The three set screws on each side keep the die rigid and in place. The center set screw on 2 sides will set into the die’s dimple.

The Colliflower tool is made to the size of die. Just send the die dimensions to Colliflower, LLC (jcolliflower373@gmail.com) and the tool will be made so that the die fits and performs perfectly. Since Colliflower, LLC developed this tool for its own applications (threading thousands of hardened steel shafts), our design has been perfected for repeat-ability and ease of use. The die is used as an insert: Once it wears out, simply replace it with another die. This tool fits right into a collet of any tool holder. The standard shank size is 3/4”, but custom sizes can be made for custom applications.

The time savings with this tool is perhaps its greatest feature; a thread mill cannot compete. A sample comparison: Using a single-tip carbide thread mill to thread a 3/4-16 shaft (3.5” long) took around 7 minutes. With the Colliflower tool, it takes only 1.5 minutes.
